Parisa Yoga Shala

Sanskrit is the ancient language of yoga.

In Sanskrit, Yoga means “union” or exploring balance through harmonizing the body, mind & spirit. Shala means “home”.

A yoga shala is a gathering space for yoga students to collectively explore the healing & transformative dimensions of yoga.

Parisa Yoga Shala was cultivated with the vision of fostering a home for collective learning, reflection, healing & transformation.

Yoga can often be viewed solely as postures however, it is a sacred practice that invites us to make space to connect with ourselves and others in a deeper way.

I intentionally curate in-person, small group gentle flow, restorative yoga, yin yoga, and meditation/yoga nidra offerings that close with a sound bath during savasana (final resting pose). I also provide sound baths that begin with breathwork and end with meditation, chanting & group reflection.

Hi everyone! My name is Parisa Shirazi Chavoya (she/her). I am a queer, Iranian-American yoga teacher and sound healing guide who has a passion for curating trauma-informed healing modalities. I was introduced to yoga in my early twenties and it took time for me to feel comfortable with the practices. In my late twenties, I lost my connection to my body and was searching for a healing practice. I found peace through attending free community yoga classes and felt drawn to learning more about the sacred healing powers of yoga.

After working in higher education and community organizations for 7 years, I decided to pursue work in the wellness field in 2022. The journey of deepening my yoga and sound healing practice has brought transformative change in my life as I heal and nourish myself. It’s a great privilege to now be able to support others in this journey as they explore their mind, body, and spirit through accessible embodiment practices.

Email me at parisayogashala@outlook.com with any questions. Always excited to connect with our community and to support others!
